What's the best type of violin for a beginner?

Any help would be appreciated! What's the best type of violin for a beginner?
A cheap one. I don't think there is a brand name that is just for beginners because companies usually make violins for well advanced violinists.

Go to a local music store that sells a variety of instruments, not just strings, and rent one. That is what the majority of beginners do, and so if you ever want to quit, you aren't losing money.

If you want to buy one though, just make sure it is actually a violin and if you're still playing about 3 years from then, then you can buy a more expensive, brand name violin.

Hope that helps! What's the best type of violin for a beginner?
A rental. If you've never played before, you don't know what a decent violin should sound like, play like, feel like. You need a little bit of experience before committing to buying an instrument. Plus, you can usually rent a much better violin then you can afford to buy.

Don't buy a violin for less than $300. That's about how much it takes to make a decent student violin with pegs that don't slip and a fitted bridge. Sure, there are plenty on eBay for $50 or less, but a poorly made violin will sound crappy (if it plays at all) and simply frustrate you by the bad sound and how it won't stay in tune.

Rent one for a few months first, take a few lessons, and then start looking for a student violin. And NEVER buy a violin without playing it first!
I don't know, but I hear that the really good violins are the ones that are old and have a long history. Their sound is supposed to be better.
You should buy something that is set up beautifully and good quality. See:

  • What is a good electric airsoft gun for a beginner to start off with?

ok so notice that i have never played the sport...i never even touched a airsoft gun. My buddies got a couple guns and asked if i would get one ... i have been interested in it but never looked up on it.. so ive been looking but have no clue what im looking for. I dont no anything about the sport or the brand names.. sooo could someone help me???What is a good electric airsoft gun for a beginner to start off with?
In order to efficiently recommend a rifle, we need:

    Max price

    Area of play

    Preferred designs

AEG brands, highest quality to lowest:

    Systema

    STAR

    G%26amp;P

    King Arms/KA

    Guarder

    ICS

    KWA

    Guay Guay/G%26amp;G

    Classic Army/CA

Echo 1 (JG rebrander. They add metal bushings, which will prolong the life of the internals, and a warranty. Sometimes metal receivers and trademarks.)

    CYMA (CM028+)

    Jing Gong/JG

    TSD/SRC

    D-Boys

Tokyo Marui/TM (Considered to be one of the highest quality manufacturers. Overpriced, underpowered plastic due to Japanese law. You'll spend $250 on a gun, another $250 for metal receivers, and another $200 to give it the internals of a G%26amp;G.)

It could be a toss up between Echo 1 and CYMA as to who has the higher quality. As far as Kalashnikovs go, G%26amp;G and ICS are only ones that top the nicer CYMA's.

    Gas Guns:

    Wei-tech/WE

    KWA

    KJW

    Marushin

    TM

    Western Arms/WA (Like TM x2)

WE and KWA are almost impossible to rank ahead of one another because of their quality.

Not going into sniper rifles, but ARES and Right Hook have the absolute best, then STAR.

Never buy a Double Eagle unless it's an M3L shotgun or L96 or a Well or unless it's an L96. Both Elephant's only quarter-decent (when compared to other mini electrics) gun is a mini electric (best mini electric is, though), which should be avoided at all costs. Crosman airsoft guns are junk. Their best one is the Airmag C11, which is...junk. Never buy unbranded guns, either. The only good UTG guns are their sniper rifles, Warhawk (CYMA CM028), and AK-74 (CYMA CM031). They're a rebrander, and don't make their own guns. Almost all of them are junk. Don't buy off-brand guns, either. Normally junk. Army is the best uncommon manufacturer. AEP's should be avoided, and EBB's...I don't even known why they exist. There's only one good AEP, the CYMA CM030.

For websites, stay far away from Airsplat, Hobbytron, and AirsoftMegastore. Three of the worst out there. AirsoftGI and RedWolfAirsoft are the two, in my eyes, best, then WeaponBlender and HitGuns. PyramidAir and TrinityAirsoft are good, too.

You WILL NOT find a decent AEG below $90, I don't care what you're going to use it for. An $80 AEG is going to break if you drop it twice, if it doesn't destroy it's own internals first. There's only four worth buying for under $100.

Where are good beginner mountain bike trails in the SF/Monterrey bay area?

I'm a beginner looking for bunny trails in the greater bay area. Easy to easy-moderate technical and aerobic. Good example: Big Basin from the coast to Berry Creek Falls (this is definitely an easy one). Bad examples: anything at Demo or JD Grant. Singletracks.com should have a list of trails in the area that are both rated and reviewed by other users - it's a comprehensive website and a great resource for mountain bikers. You should definitely give it a whirl.Where are good beginner mountain bike trails in the SF/Monterrey bay area?

Is the Fender CD60 Acoustic Guitar good for a beginner?

I know nothing about music but my brother has been wanting a guitar for some time and I've been looking around but have no idea.

    http://www.matchettsmusic.com/product/dfd0c687-776d-4522-8538-a088f9347c0e.aspx

If you're form the US that'd be like $260 retail price and their price $180.

Thanks! Is the Fender CD60 Acoustic Guitar good for a beginner?
Let me tell you that if your a beginner any old guitar will do but just make sure of a few things how ever much you spend.

1-The strings ain't too high off the fretboard - beginners have weak fingers and this can cause a problem.

2-There isn't any fret buzz - tune up and play each fret in turn to make sure of this.

3 - The bridge is in good condition - if it's sharp it can lead to premature string breakage.

But if a guitar says fender on the end your more than likely to be getting a good guitar any away without checking it, I would only buy a guitar off the Internet if it was a top brand like fender, and if that's what you doing I'd go for this one any day!Is the Fender CD60 Acoustic Guitar good for a beginner?
    Try this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Johnny-Brook-Stu鈥?/a>

It depends on size and strings. Seriously, don't consider spending that much when you can get a good one much cheaper. Mabye when he is good enough, he could move onto something like that.
i think he would do better spending the money on a better quality secondhand one

    Drug Tests for beginner pilots?

I want to be a pilot, I have been saving money to start lessons this summer. I know that big airline companies give staff regular drug tests, but I want to know if students are tested, like maybe it is part of the test to get your license or something. Or if you are just flying a small plane, not a commercial one, can you get drug tested?Drug Tests for beginner pilots?
You'll have to pass a medical exam to obtain your student pilot license. I can assure you your AME will perform a drug test. Contrary to popular belief, at the AME's discretion (Aviation Medical Examiner), a drug test can be performed during any medical exam as recommended by the FAA. However, many examiners omit to do it during recurrent medical visits, if you've been taking drugs, wait at least 6 months, I'd recommend you wait more than 6 months before visiting an AME. Also a side advice, please do not get involved in aviation if you're planning on using drugs!!!Drug Tests for beginner pilots?
No, the FAA medical exam does not test for drugs.

Nor are there any other drug tests throughout training.

However, the FAA Medical application does ask about previous drug abuse and/or criminal convictions.

Also, even as a student, if you are involved in an aircraft accident, you will most likely be tested for drugs/alcohol.

EDIT: Here's a site that lists the actual language of the question regarding drug abuse:

    http://www.leftseat.com/faaforms.htm

    ';A diagnosis or medical history of substance dependence is disqualifying unless there is established clinical evidence, satisfactory to the Federal Air Surgeon, of recovery, including sustained total abstinence from the substance(s) for not less than the preceding 2 years. A history of substance abuse within the preceding 2 years is disqualifying. Substance includes alcohol and other drugs (i.e., PCP, sedatives and hynoptics, anxiolytics, marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, hallucinogens, and other psychoactive drugs or chemicals).';

    Good Luck with your training.
You are not tested for drugs, but you must disclose your drug use to obtain the medical; failing to do so can cause you to lose that certification.

Unless you never intend to take drugs again, becoming a pilot is probably not a good idea (and it's a much worse idea than becoming a car driver, which is already unwise if you take drugs).
Yes and if you`re found to have traces of drugs in your system from within a year from the test date you will be prosecuted and have your license revoked. If you are thinking of flying aircraft while high with passengers, it should be considered attempted murder.
We have enough of a problem with American Airlines pilots blowing positive alcohol tests.
Drug tests are required for student pilots to get their license.
There is no drug test involved in the FAA physical.
PLEASE DO NOT FLY WHILE INTOXICATED
If you have to ask, then you shouldn't be a pilot.

  • What is the best type of hamster for a beginner?

I want to get a master that is both social and easy to handle. however i want a hamster that can be kept one per cage. I want one that is not aggressive, and can be lovable playmate for me and my sister. What is the best type of hamster for a beginner?
I don't recommend you a Robo dwarf. They are the smallest and cutest (for me) of all kind.. but they are extremely aggressive and hard to catch.. meaning NOT FRIENDLY!!

For you, I'll suggest checking out Campbell Hamster (Often called Winter White) or Golden Hamster.

Campbell hamsters are like 3-4 inches and they change their black/grey fur color to white when the temperature drops.

They are pretty friendly.. and lot of hamster-beginners raise them.

Golden hamsters are extremely friendly and easy to handle too. Well, because their size is big (size of person's palm.. it barely fitted on MY palm..) so.. if you get bitten, you might bleed alot.. *shiver*

Also, you might get freaked out by amount of poos and pees!!

Um.. however, golden hamsters are divided into lot of varieties.. mainly Short-haried and Long-haired. If you get a Longhaired one, the hammy looks beautiful.. but you have to groom its fur almost everyday. Plus, the hamster will be hot in summers.. so.. you might have to give xtra care on Summers if you get a long haired one.

HAMSTERS ARE SOLITARY ANIMALS!! I strongly suggest to buy ONE in petstore. If you get two same genders, theres a big possibility that they might fight %26amp; kill each other. If you get one male %26amp; one female, .. the female will get pregnant and produce babies,, the babies produce their babies... blah blah and all of sudden, you'll have countless hamsters. :l

You should check more out at wikipedia.org or google it..

I hope you get a nice and cute hammy!! xDWhat is the best type of hamster for a beginner?
    A dwarf.....they dont bite usually.
I have taken care of hamsters for the last two years and in my experience there is no ';type'; of hamster that overall is any more social or nice than the other. Sometimes I get an extremely docile, friendly hamster and other times mean, easily startled ones. The best thing to do is talk to the person you are buying from (breeder, pet store) ask them what hamsters they have worked with, which they think are nice. Don't pick one you think looks cute because it might turn out to be mean.
well, if you go to your local pet store you will see normal hamsters, right? Right, of course!! There might be males and females, and different colors. They all are probably good pets, so don't pick by which one is the cutest. Watch them to see which one has the personallity you like. I wouldn't go with a dwarf hamster, because when they get under that bedding, you won't see them very often 'cause they're so tiny! If you are getting one hamster, go with male, two or more, go with female.
chinese hamster nice and small an very friendly!

I need the most basic violin package fro a beginner. What would be an average price for such a thing?

I am selling my bass guitar and amp for a violin. However, I'm not sure how much said violin will cost me. And no matter how much I try, I can't find a price on the web. Any help?I need the most basic violin package fro a beginner. What would be an average price for such a thing?
Any good violin is made by hand. Due to the variability of wood, it must be graduated correctly on the top and bottom, and this takes time and experience. If you buy a violin that has been crudely made, you can take the strings off and you will have fine a piece of fine firewood.

I suggest you budget at least $800. for a beginning violin. If you do not play, you must find a player or repair person you can trust to check out any instrument you would buy.

Please check out this excellent article about making violins:

http://www.centrum.is/hansi/construction鈥?/a>I need the most basic violin package fro a beginner. What would be an average price for such a thing?
It really depends on the size the willingness of the beginnerr and i know that i went to the loft violin shop and they can size the player get the violin and give you a price it really depends heres the website http://www.theloftviolinshop.com/

8 year old beginner snowboarder has developed neck pain. Is this a common problem? What could he be doing wron?

8 year old has been snowboarding for 2 years and has had 3 private lessons. The instructors say he is doing fine, and has been up on the lift of Burke Mtn VT. Does deer run, but admits it's hard for him. Has had neck pain since going to the top that hasn't subsided in 2 weeks. Could he be doing something wrong? Is this a common injury amoung new, young snow boarders? Maybe skiing would be less strenuous on his neck.8 year old beginner snowboarder has developed neck pain. Is this a common problem? What could he be doing wron?
he might be keeping his neck completely stiff when he's going down the run because i assume the instructors are telling him to keep his head facing down the hill. keeping his neck stiff for long periods of time might be doing it. not to mention if you fall and your stiff it'll be worse.8 year old beginner snowboarder has developed neck pain. Is this a common problem? What could he be doing wron?
if he's still crashing a lot that is probably why his neck is hurting. when people crash they strain their necks naturally as a way to keep their heads from taking too much impact, making for a very sore neck,

however, if you are really worried about it, you should probably bring him in to the doctor. if he hasn't been snowboarding in two weeks, and his neck is still hurting, it is definately time to bring him in to be seen by a doctor.
he could of fallen and hurt it some how... My brother did the same thing and he fell on it and hurt it.... my mom took him to the dr and he gave him some pain meds and told him to stop snowboarding till the pain goes away...
Has he had any injuries?? even minor, because snowboarding can cause pain if you land wrong or even turn your neck the wrong way while riding down the slope. You should check into a doctor and see how that goes%26gt; I doubt skiing would be any different
If he falls a lot he could be getting whiplash. The pain would be the same with skiing, if he falls a lot.

Which is better to invest in if your a beginner in investing? Stock or Mutual Funds?

I am only 16 and i want to start investing. I have been resarching since the summer and I have money saved up in my savings account to start investing.Which is better to invest in if your a beginner in investing? Stock or Mutual Funds?
Mutual funds in that they are already diversified and they are professionally managed.Which is better to invest in if your a beginner in investing? Stock or Mutual Funds?
It's good that you are thinking of investing! If you are a new investor, Mutual Funds are a better way to go as they are comprised of a group of stocks and, therefore, less likely to make drastic moves downward (or upward for that matter). The first thing to do is determine your risk level: can you afford to lose some of this money? The more risk you are willing to take, the bigger returns you can expect (or the bigger losses if you choose poorly). Next, do your homework. Start by reading up on investing. Suze Orman's books are a great place to start. You can get them at the public library! Good Luck!
A broad based mutual fund (or a total market index fund) is your best bet. Wait until you have a lot more experience %26amp; knowledge before getting into stocks.
Invest in mutual funds. However, research ALL of your options.

Do you want stable mutual funds with low returns (such as municipal bonds) or do you want high risk funds with higher returns (such as international stocks)?
Start with this stock and you will be ok.

China Mobile (CHL). Population and economy exloding. Adding overr 1 million suscribers a month. At a forward 17 P/E ratio, a stock doesn't get much cheaper on a valuation basis. To make things even better, it carries a 4% dividend yield. It has to go down 4% before you start to lose money!! Just signed a contract with google for it to be primary search engine on phones. This stock is amazing. Put your money in it and watch it grow.

You want your money to grow. Our jobs, all our clothing and textiles are made in China. China is where the growth is. Where were your sneakers made? In China. Your shirt? China. Don't beleive me? Look at the lable. Bet on China and you will be ok.

  • Can spotting scopes be used for star gazing and beginner astronomy?

Yes, they can, but they're not ideal. They usually provide more magnification than binoculars but not enough to get decent views of the planets. Unlike astronomical telescopes (but like binoculars), they provide an erect image, which is ideal for birdwatching but not so good when you're trying to compare what you see through the eyepiece to an inverted image taken through an astronomical scope.

If you already have one, you can use a spotting scope for astronomy, but you're better off buying a good pair of binoculars or saving up for an astronomical telescope than buying a spotting scope specifically for astronomy. Can spotting scopes be used for star gazing and beginner astronomy?
Sure. It won't be much of an improvement over binoculars, but you can always point it up and get a little magnification. However, I wouldn't buy one just for astronomy - wait until you can afford a decent telescope.

What is a good brand of running shoes for beginner track? ?

I am starting track in spring, i haven't done track before but friends have told me i am fast when they try to catch me. (some of those friends play soccer and do track) I am a freshman in high school and i have no clue what kind of shoes would be good. I would also like them to be used for climbing (buildings) and just going on runs in the neighborhood. What is a good brand of running shoes for beginner track? ?
Go to a running specialty store (*not* Sports Authority, Dicks, or Foot Locker), and get fitted. There are different types of running styles (pronator, underpronator, neutral, overpronator) so you need the right shoe for you. If they are doing it right, the salesperson will have you run around the store or on a treadmill to see how you run.

To answer your next question, yes, it will be more expensive than going to Dicks or Footlocker. On the other hand, needing physical therapy because you jacked up your shins or knees with the wrong shoes is going to be VERY expensive. What is a good brand of running shoes for beginner track? ?
Go to a ';running'; shop and get fitted for a pair. People's preferences are all different and the shoes sometimes fit perfectly on one person and absolutely horrible on someone else. I went to a shop and I actually came out with the Saucony Triumph. Pretty light and comfy for me but it might not be for you. Good luck.
You probably need to spend at least 80 to get a good pair of shoes. Adidas, Saucony, Asics, New Balance, Nike, and Brooks all make good shoes. Go to a nice store and get fit tested on a treadmill.
The ';Asic Gel'; range is awsome to run in. They are both light and comfortable. I have a pair at the moment and they are great!

What is the best thing to do for a beginner fish owner?

hey everybody. just got a 10 gallon fish tank a couple weeks ago. i have 5 different types of community fishes. 2 shrimps and 1 bottom feeder. i'm sorry i don't know their scientific names. anyway i have a heater, and a whisper filter. i clean the tank almost every week which is a pain in the *** because i'm a working student. i wanted to know what else i can do to keep them cleaner. i've fed them less than i did at first. i totally clean the whole tank. i took out most of my granite just coz it's so hard to clean them as well. i have a real shrimp bamboo, 1 fake short plant and 2 coliseum ruins as decor. they're real tiny though. i'm thinking of getting one of those auto feeders coz i'll be on leave for more than a week. i'm not sure which is best. can you guys advice what else can i do? and what else my tank needs? thanks so much! What is the best thing to do for a beginner fish owner?
First put the granite back in the tank. It's micro-pourious surface holds the normal floura that your fish can obviouly survive in. Learn about your fish. For example, is the ';bottom feeder,'; a plecosperous/plequeo. You want as many of these plecos as possible. Buy the pigme version. They are like tiny filters/ecosystem recyclers. Having different types of community fish won't necessarily stop them from trying to eat each other. If you cut back the food supply for to long then the hungry will surely do what then need to do to survive. Feeding cycles of the same amount are to make things eazy for us. What you really want to do is vary the food quantity in a regular cycle of over and under feeding with neither for to long. This is another great reason to learn your fish. No fish normally eats eats daily. Again this is done only for easy keeping. Each fish's eating period spans a different # of days and quantity corralates to there body mass and general health. Also, each bread of fish has its own perfered pH and you should cycle through the range of pH-es perfered in your tank. So, learn your fish, treat your tank like it's owen organism, test the pH regularly and get some mini-plequeoes. Last but not least, avoid putting your hands into the tank. Your normal flora will infect the tank. That's a real pain in the keaster.

Good luck. What is the best thing to do for a beginner fish owner?
if you have a filter you shouldnt be cleaning a big tank like that once a week
Uhmmm...a 10 gallon really isnt that big....and when it is less than a couple months old, then you should change about 50% of the water just about every week. Also, it is best to feed your fish very small meals, several times a day, because thats how it is in nature. Plus the nitrifying bacteria that get rid of ammonia and nitrates will be able to keep up more easily, because they have a continuous supply of nutrients, instead of being bombarded by it every few days.
FIRST OFF, WHEN YOU PUT THIS TANK TOGETHER ALONG WITH THE STRESSCOAT FOR THE WATER, THE TANK SHOULD HAVE BEEN VACANT FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. THEN, WHEN YOU DID ADD FISH, IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN 4 AT A TIME. YOU HAVE A BIO WHEEL GOING WHICH IS GOOD, BUT ALSO YOU HAVE TO HAVE AN AIR STONE ALSO. FEED THEM ONCE A DAY, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CORY CATFISH TO TAKE CARE OF THE BOTTOM CLEANING, AND ALSO ALGAE EATERS TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR GLASS. MAKE SURE YOU TEST FOR THE PH, AMMONIA, AND NITRATES. AN AUTO FEEDER I DO NOT KNOW ABOUT. WHEN YOU HAVE A 10 GALLON, IT WILL TEND TO GET DIRTY FASTER SO YOU WILL HAVE TO CHECK YOUR FILTER AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. ALSO, MAKE SURE YOUR FISH ARE COMPATIBLE.
I don't have a lot to add to the last answer, which I mostly agree with, except forget the auto feeder! Fish DO NOT need to be fed everyday either! have fun! What would be a good airsoft gun for a beginner?
JG (Jing Gong) g36c easy gun to handle robust and easy to get parts.. good beginners gun.. its a medium powered gun around 300 fps I think Report Abuse

Alright, your best bet is to go with an Echo 1/ Jing Jong/ Golden Bow weapon. This is the same brand with different names. Anyways, these guns are the absolute cheapest with the best firepower to them. I am in love with them. Almost all of them have 360 fps or so, which is really good, they last a long time, and they are only around $100 dollars, which is amazing for a weapon of that quality. Depending on what approach you want to take-offensive and charging or defensive and suppressing, you should either get the MP5 or the M16. The MP5 has a shorter barrel and really helps because it is light and powerful. The M16 has a longer barrel, looks cooler, sounds better, and is compatible with M4's as well. This wouldn't be good if you were in a tight space or if you were always running around, but it is still very nice.

Wanting to purchase a motorcycle, What is a good beginner 'Harley style ' motorcycle to well, start with!

If you start with an actual Harley, don't go with a Sporster. It's the only bike by Harley that is mass produced therefore a saturation of the market. You will want to upgrade it in a year after being beat up by it's rough ride %26amp; you won't be able to unload it without eating some of the cost. Go with a smaller bike in the softtail or glide series for a more comfortable ride, long term bike. Look on Craigslist.com for the best deals in used bikes. People are practically giving them away on there.Wanting to purchase a motorcycle, What is a good beginner 'Harley style ' motorcycle to well, start with!
stay away from the v star, I have been working on a bunch of them for customers. yamaha cut a lot of corners on them and they throw a rod at about 40,000 miles. so far 20 of them have come into my shop all with the same problem.Wanting to purchase a motorcycle, What is a good beginner 'Harley style ' motorcycle to well, start with!
Suzuki Savage/S40 good all around bike
You say....Harley Style, that means, not really a HD.

There are plenty of copies of the Harleys on the markey.

Yamaha is the best copy so far. Yamaha 1100 V Star.
the best cruiser bike to start out with is the 883 Sportster for $4995.00 ; the closest thing to it would be a V-Star 650 and I demoed a V-Star 13-- and am of the opinion that they do not handle very well; I do not like the handling of the Road King or Super Glide either,as they are too thick for me and the Sportster is very thin and I enjoy rocking it back and forth while riding,I jump it once in a while, like to sit sideways on the the seat while riding, stand up on the seat and on the mid pegs while riding .... I generally run it at 85 mph on the interstate and have put about 10k miles on it and have never been passed by any bigger Harley's so far .... they are nice for cruising around with a chick on the back, but the Sportster is a bike for getting out and raising cain on;the Sportster was origionally a dirt bike and it would not hurt you to get a little Honda CRF 130 and learn how to trail ride to get you used to making quick turns and avoiding obstacles etc ..... but the only bikes I considered vs the Sportster were the Triumph Bonneville 900,Triumph Thruxton 900 and the Triumph Scrambler 900 and the V-Star 650 because they were in the price range; the 883 Standard can just get new handle bars and cables for like $100.00 extra vs paying $7k for an 883l or custom ....... I would get the 883 Harley Davidson Sportster;you can always get it bumped up to a 88 cubic engine in the future if you so choose and will still be saving $7 thousand dollars and have more pride in your custom bike ......
Most of the big-name motorcycle manufacturers have one or two ';mid-size'; cruisers in the 750-900cc range that would be great first bikes for a new rider. My wife started out on a 250cc Honda Rebel and was ready for a bigger bike within 6 months. She now rides an 800cc Suzuki Volusia, which is a really nice bike for her. I think the new models have been renamed as the Suzuki M-50.

Whatever you decide to buy, before you do... Take a Motorcycle Safety Foundation beginner rider course. The two-day course will teach you the basics of safe motorcycle operation, and when you complete the class, most states will give you a pass on having to do a practical demonstration for your license.

Also, when figuring out how much you can afford to spend on a motorcycle, don't forget to save a few $$ for a good quality helmet and appropriate riding clothes. They could save your life!
my advice is this. take a motorcycle rider course and use there bikes to get used to them, then get a harley they stand behind there vehicles with extendended warranty also which covers eveything except the battery ok. and you can get frm 1450 cc to 1600 cc now which have to kits already installed ok nice bikes and if you sell it you wont get tortured trying to sell it either they keep there worth up
sounds like you have gotten some decent answers. Any of the Yamaha 'star' models would be good. Honda Shadow VLXs would be a suitable choice too.
Honda Shadow VLX. 600cc, and nice styling. Very low seat and light weight. If you're a completely novice rider, the rebel or other 250cc bike might be a safer choice.

The VLX is just big enough that you can probably be okay with it for a couple of years. It'll handle short highway trips okay, and is light enough for city driving.
honda rebel is too tiny if you want a better beginners bike go with the yamaha virago250 better styling and better looking. about the same price as the honda. If you want a little bigger the honda shadow VLX is a nice 600 that is still fairly small and easy to ride.
My brother and I bought 2 new bikes for a summer vacation. His 1200 Bandit leaked gas and ruined the motor before it got 2000 miles. We asked Suzuki to replace the motor so we could go on vacation.

They said it鈥檚 to expensive and would cost $3000. After 4 months and the vacation gone they got the motor rebuilt at a their cost of $3700. The dealer wanted to replace the motor but Suzuki squashed that.

The gas stained cases and burnt exhaust pipes were not replaced. The bike got nicked and scratched all over from being apart for so long. The rep rode it and looked at it, then said it鈥?good as new. It ran like crap and looked worse.

We called Japan for nothing, and even wrote the US CEO all for nothing. We spent $15,000 for the bikes to get ripped off. We spent our vacation hassling with Suzuki, and not one person there gave a F! Beware Suzuki鈥檚 warranty is not worth the paper it鈥檚 printed on! Buy one of their lemons are get ripped off like we did!

Suzuki ripped off a man dieing cancer and stole his only chance for a summer motorcycle vacation with his brother while he was still healthy enough to go. We did everything possible to make our vacation happen and we were insulted by the Suzuki rep. Not one person anywhere in Suzuki鈥檚 entire organization cared one whit.

It鈥檚 perfectly OK to rip off a dying man and steal his only chance for a vacation after we spent $15,000. What ever you do run from buying any Suzuki. If you get a lemon you鈥檙e screwed and no one there will care. It happened to us it can happen to you.
Depending on your size ,If your wanting a really good looking Harley looking bike without the big price tag check out the Honda Shadow 750cc,its not overly huge and not so small you outgrow it in 6 months ,Perfect bikes for new Riders that do want something that still has the get up and go / Also Take the course you will really like it plus meet others that are Beginners also
    Yamaha Virago 250cc is a v-twin an super reliable. mpg about 85mpg @ 65 to 70 mph.
If you mean a ';cruiser'; style I'd go with a Yamaha V-star 650. Light for it's size and very nimble (for a cruiser).

Buy used for your first bike.
are you looking for a ';harley style';, or a harley? a harley style, or cruiser style bikes are made by all manufacturers. depending on your personal taste you have a wide choice. all of today's bikes are build very well. and contrary to some opinions on here, harley's are well built too. if you want a harley then buy a harley. go to dealers and look at the bikes that excite you, sit on them, if you have a motorcycle license, road test a few of them. before you make any deals, go to www.harley-davidson.com and see what list price is. a lot of h-d dealers in the philadelphia, pa area are giving $1000.00 - $2000.00 off of big twins and $500.00 - $1000.00 off of sportster list prices.

a sportster is a good bike, but you may want to look into a dyna or even a softail if you can spent the money.

    good luck.
Im new here but if youlive in the UK

have you passed your full bike test?

if not your stuck on a 125cc

    seems everyone thinks you have
If you want to start with a low level bike - try the honda rebel - it's a 250cc engine in a cruiser style bike - its a small bike, but good for beginners.

Otherwise, go into a dealership and ask to look at their used cruisers. They should have a good number of ';Trade ins'; that they have for sale.
rather than following the flock and getting a Harley or a Harley style motorcycle check out the triumph bonneville series. They are very light and nimble for a cruiser and have enough power to be enjoyable. They are also very reasonably priced at about 8000 for a higher end model.

Where are there beginner friendly classes in bjj in NYC?

I'm a 20 yr-old college student with no kind of past training in any sort of martial art or fighting style. I'm looking to gain a stronger sense of confidence and be able to better defend myself against any possible attacks. I live in NYC, so i i believe i'm bound to get into fights. I'm looking for adult, begginer friendly classes that hopefully aren't too expensive. Also i've been told that i should also learn another form of martial arts that would compliment bjj and be more useful in case of multiple attackers. Any ideas on what and where? • Does anyone know of any good violins for a beginner?

I want to learn how to play the violin but I don't know what kind of violin to get. I was looking around on the internet and found a ton of different ones but I'm not sure what I should be looking for.

Can someone PLEASE help me!!!!!!!!!Does anyone know of any good violins for a beginner?
If you don't know how to play yet, I would definitely recommend renting one first. Any local music shop should be able to rent you a violin. Or you can rent one from this site http://www.stringworks.com for a decent price ($20-$30 a month). Would you buy a car if you had never driven one before? Of course not. And you shouldn't buy a violin if you've never played one. You don't know what you're looking for in terms of sound and feel yet. Rent one first and get used to it before investing. And make sure you like it before investing.

When you are ready to buy, don't buy one without playing it first! Which pretty much means, don't get one from eBay or an internet site without a trial period. A good violin can be expensive (you won't get a decent student violin for under $200) and you don't want to invest and then find out it's a piece of crap.

I got mine from the above website after a trial period, and I love it. Just my 2 cents.Does anyone know of any good violins for a beginner?

What type of guitar should I buy for a beginner?

I'm 18 yrs as i have never play any guitarWhat type of guitar should I buy for a beginner?
By an acoustic, you can get a decent one on sale at the Guitar Center for $200.00. Try the Yamaha brand....you don't want to spend a fortune on something that you're not even sure that you have the patience and talent for. Take someone who knows about guitar with you....if that's impossible then get the clerk to play the different Yamaha's for you to see which one sounds good to you. Try to finger the strings to make sure that the action is good, you don't want the strings to be too high off of the fingerboard, making it impossible for beginners to play. I think that this site has 24 free lessons for beginners, check it out and see what you think, it will get you started....

I hope something here will help get you started, good luck, and don't worry about learning fast, this is an instrument that takes time to learn, it will take weeks just to get the callouses on your finger tips necessary to play without pain !!!!!!!!!What type of guitar should I buy for a beginner?
Don't buy a really expensive one, but don't get a really crappy one

My brother has a Fender, and that's a fairly good line - he has a $100 guitar, and he's had it for a couple of years (maybe 3 or 4) and it still works really well

You might want to get an acoustic because it's more difficult to play than the electric because it has a thicker neck so if you've mastered the acoustic, then the electric will be even easier

What kind of guitar should i get as a beginner?

hi, im 16 and i would love to learn how to play guitar. however i don't really know too much about them. what type of acoustic guitar should i get as a beginner? i love taylor swift and hope to play some of her songs for fun, and maybe even make some up myself.

thanks for your answers! What kind of guitar should i get as a beginner?
the Washburn D10 is the best selling guitar under $500. At about $300 it's still more expensive than the really cheap beginner guitars, but it's much better and you'll still be happy with it when you get better. It really depends on how serious you are, because a more expensive guitar wont make you any better like some people think, but you'll be more satisfied with one once you become better on your own.

They actually just put out a budget model with no electronics for half the price.

    http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/produ鈥?/a>

You're going to have to buy a tuner from a music store, but the $15-20 or so you spend on a GOOD tuner (don't try to get a cheap one, its just not worth it) still makes the guitar a steal.

Nothing will discourage you more than playing an out-of-tune guitar because it just won't sound right, so if you don't get a guitar with a built-in tuner, get yourself a tuner and learn how to tune a guitar. What kind of guitar should i get as a beginner?
My advice is actually to get a cheaper guitar .Say you don't like it and want to focus on your singing alone? The problem with buying a more expensive guitar is that you buy high and no one wil ever give you back the money you've invested if you lose interest. If you think you're going to be a guitar virtuoso then by all means buy a Gibson or an Ovation (if you like their sound.)
how much can you afford? cheap is what cheap gets. just a standard dreadnaught should do the trick. here's one but I never suggest cheap guitars http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/produ鈥?/a>
Maybe a Gibson or a Taylor. Those are pretty nice acoustic guitars.

How much do Beginner guitars range from?

How much do they cost in general and if you can how much do they cost in Canada? How much do Beginner guitars range from?
You did not specify electric or acoustic. Either way, you will need to spend the best part of 200 USD for a beginner's guitar that's good enough to learn on wihout holding you back. For an electric, of course, you'll need to spend another 70 - 100 USD for a small pratice amp. Cheaper guitars are available but they're just not high enough quality even for a beginner.

Buy from a reputable music store, never from a big box store like Wal*Mart or Target. Good luck. How much do Beginner guitars range from?

What's an easy song to play for a beginner guitar player?

I'm just learning. What's an easy song to play for a beginner guitar player?
anything by blink 182, that's what i started with. ^_^What's an easy song to play for a beginner guitar player?
I have been playing guitar for numerous years and i can tell you its hard espiacally as a begginner. But once you pick it up, its really fun and easy to play. The song i started playing first when i was a begginer was smoke on the water. You can get the song almost anywhere online ( make sure you get the simpilfied version, or else its really tough). Its a classic, catchy 2.
If you want something to sing along to, my brother says that Yellow Submarine by The Beatles is easy to play on guitar. You can probably find the notes for guitar on the internet.

What brand of bass guitar is best for a beginner if I will be playing alternative/ rock? What brand of bass guitar is best for a beginner?
Here are some good starter basses (low price, good quality):

    Squier Affinity P Bass

    Squier Affinity J Bass

    Squier Vintage Modified Precision/Jazz Bass

    Peavey Millenium

    Peavey Milestone 5

    Yamaha RBX170

    Ibanez GAXB

    Warwick Rockbass Streamer Standard

    OLP MM2

    Washburn XB100

All those basses will give you good value for a good price.

Also, about what he said: some people don't like Ibanez (I personally enjoy them), but they're almost universally recognized as one of the top makers of mid-range bass guitars (along with Schecter).

Hope that helps. What brand of bass guitar is best for a beginner?
Washburn makes fairly good quality basses for fairly cheap prices.

T-12 should get the job done well enough. Ibanez is pretty hit or miss as is epiphone. The Fender Squier ';P'; and ';J'; basses are pretty good, but definitely nowhere near their big brothers.

I am a beginner photographer and would love to know what kind of camera would be best?

I love Nikons. I am not wanting to spend a lot (meaning over $800) on a camera. Does anybody have any suggestions on what Nikon would be best? I am looking at the Nikon D40X. But any other suggestions would be great! Thanks! Also please tell me the features of the cameras you suggest. Or if you own a D40X, could you please tell me the pros and cons of that one? Thanks so much!I am a beginner photographer and would love to know what kind of camera would be best?
The D80 is a more capable camera body, more substantially built, and has come down in price lately. The D40, D40x, and D60 are all fine entry level dSLR's, any of which will serve you well. The main drawback to the D40's and D60 is that they will not autofocus with older lenses that don't have the autofocus motor in the lens itself. If you don't already have a lot of older Nikon glass, that probably doesn't matter.

If you want to research them, try www.dpreview.com. If you can swing it, get a decent flash, too. The SB600, SB800 (discontinued) and the SB900 are all nice flashes and will be a big improvement over the pop-up flash.

Have fun with your new camera!I am a beginner photographer and would love to know what kind of camera would be best?
    I own the D40X

It is good. Canon cameras seem to be more durable. But the interface in the Nikon is nice. Lighting is very important. This camera is enough. But invest in a strobe or other lighting.

To do photography write you should buy books. Study other's photographs. But more importantly have fun!

Below is a link to some Pro-Sumer DSLRs
Since they just upgraded the Nikon D80 with the Nikon D90, you can find some amazing deals on the D80 right now. It is a phenomenal camera and will have a lot more capability than the D40x.

i have a Nikon D50. its a very good camera and takes really crisp pictures. it has a lot of features and is quite hard to use at first. you get used to it though.

considering that you are just starting out i would say that you dont need something as advanced as a D50, maybe a D30 or something would be better. i think they're about 拢400 or something

    anyway good luck :)

What is the best SLR camera for a beginner photographer?

I am very engaged in this activity and I already own a small camera, but I think I'm ready for a more professional camera now.

I've done some research and stopped on Canon EOS D50 or maybe, D400/450, Nicon 80D, and Leica V-LUX 1.

    What would you suggest me?

P.S. and also which lenses would be better for me?What is the best SLR camera for a beginner photographer?
I'm a professinal photographer. Most pros think of their cameras as part of a system that includes the camera body, lens, flash, and accessories. They expect their ';system'; to grow and change over time to meet their changing needs.

Most pros choose either Canon or Nikon for that reason. Both companies offer very high quality, good value, and a wide variety of lenses, flashes, and accessories to help you achieve specific photographic effects. Leica is also a very high quality camera, but lacks the interchangeable lenses of a true SLR. By the way, the Leica is based on Panasonic's DMC-FZ50 which has identical specifications, and may be available at a lower price.

Any of these three cameras will produce excellent images. But for greatest flexibility, go for the Nikon or Canon.

Read online reviews at http://www.dpreview.com and then go to a good camera store and try out two or three different models. Decide which one feels best to you, fits your budget, meets your current needs, and can grow with you as your skills improve.

Choose the best medium range zoom lens you can afford with the widest aperture (usually f2.8).

What is the best digital camera for a beginner who wants larger prints?

I've been thinking about getting a dig cam for awhile now and I've done some research but I'm still pretty confused. I want a camera under $300, I'm definatly a beginner but I want something I can learn off of, so not too basic, but not crazy advanced although I doubt I'd get that for under 300 anyways. I want it to be good for large prints, since I want to frame pictures of flowers and interesting things, so maybe a macro feature would be good. I don't know much about photoshop but in the future will probably try to learn so maybe a plug in for that. I definatly need a decent resolution since I will be making the pictures in large prints sometimes and will want it to look crisp. I've been looking at the website dcresource.com which has great reviews but I just don't know where to begin. Any help is appreciated :)What is the best digital camera for a beginner who wants larger prints?
I am a big Nikon fan, but for a beginner, I really like the Canon Digital Rebel xt1. It is an excellent starter digital camera dn has very crisp images when blown up to 16x24.

It is inexpensive too. As far as cameras go.

Make sure it comes wiht a lens. The lens you use is more important than the camera.

Remember... even if we gave Picasso a $1 set of watercolors, he is still going to paint a better picture than we are going to paint with $500 paint. What is the best digital camera for a beginner who wants larger prints?
I'd start with a Nikon digital point-and-shoot, Cool Pix is a good camera. If you want to get bigger, better prints though I'd go with a Nikon SLR with more options and interchangable lenses, but if you're just starting out a fixed lens point-and-shoot is best for you.

I recommend Nikon because it's a great reliable brand and it's all I use.

yes, but not a fender stratocaster. Since ur a beginner get a Squier Stratocaster. I would suggest searching for a group that backpacks. Backpacking is safer in numbers. Local colleges may have an outdoor program. The Boy Scouts may have a unit that backpacks.

For gear review, tips, trips, and other helpful suggestions, Backpacker magazine is very helpful. If you have a specific question, you can contact me.
I would talk to the local natural resources office to see what groups go backpacking and the area they go. Also ask for recommendations on gear too.

What's the best Illustration Software for a beginner with 0 drawing experience?

I'm trying to get started designing ';paper goods'; for baby showers and expecting moms (ie: shower invited, announcements, favors) and I have no experience with drawing. Is it possible to find a basic illustration software that will help me create my own ';characters'; or artwork ? or should I stick with stock photos?

Thanks! What's the best Illustration Software for a beginner with 0 drawing experience?
    you should have a preloaded program on your computer called ';paint';

(its in the programs/accessories on start bar).

Make basic shapes, insert type and even insert some drawings,( not photo's), art from saved files, simple stuff but a good way to learn tool bars, effects etc. for freeWhat's the best Illustration Software for a beginner with 0 drawing experience?
I think a pencil would be the best way to start. Trying to illustrate with software that you don't know how to use is like trying to tie your shoes with boxing gloves on.

If you can get something going with a pencil, sketch some stuff out, THEN you can start thinking about copying it on the computer.
    showers, invitations, announcements..

    dear mrs,

depending on your computer itself, properties , and being able to run software by system requirements may be needed,

correct as previously suggested, to start with ideas on paper,

even scan them into computer to edit for templates, or backgrounds, if you have a new camera/ printer may have come with some software, to edit images...

some freeware is available for photo editing,

    ..
I honestly think that you shouldn't start with software. Even the best software, Illustrator, is not nearly as effective as pencil, pen, chalks. Learn to draw in the material world first, then the limitations that exist in the software won't make your artwork mechanical.

Really, I mean this. Drawing on paper is still the best way to learn.

But after that, try Illustrator, or Corel draw. Illustrator is the professional standard, Corel is more affordable.
Every computer, a pc that is, should have a good illustrator program that has an interface with every part exposed and not layers and layers of intimidating modules and tools. I used to swear by MACs and have received used, from generous friends, but when it came time to buy a computer, I chose a pc because of one program.

Corel-release XARA, from 1998, is still very similiar to the latest version, XARA Xtreme. In just six months, I re-applied the old school illustration training from decades, to my mouse and mousepad. I really recommend as you progress to get a drawing tablet by INTOUS.

Can a Beginner start on a shortboard?

I am just learning to surf and i was wondering if i could just skip learning on a longboard and go straight to a shortboard? I know all the basics already and think i'm fairly fit, if that helps at all.

BTW, does it help in the long run to learn on a shortboard rather than on a longboard? Can a Beginner start on a shortboard?
Sure the ancient Hawaiians used to give there kids gnarly little boards to start out on. As long as you're determined whatever you start on you'll do fine ;)Can a Beginner start on a shortboard?
I always recommend starting on a longboard. Whether you buy or rent a longboard doesn't matter. But it is in your best interest to start on a longboard.

As a beginner with no programming experience, how is best to learn to create websites?

I am interested in learning to build websites outside of work for a new skill, but currently have no idea where to start, how best to learn this, where the sites are hosted, etc. Any starting points you could provide would be greatly appreciated. As a beginner with no programming experience, how is best to learn to create websites?
HTML is the easiest scripting language to learn. To add some dynamics to your web site, look into CSS which also is an easy scripting language to learn. You may also think about getting into PHP/MySQL which isn't to aweful to learn, but it does take practice. Try to obtain a copy of Dreamweaver for designing the site layout. It pretty much programs the HTML and CSS for you.

Good books for learning HTML, CSS, or PHP is the SAMS book series. IF you want to learn some of these technologies for free, try to W3C website:

    HTML (http://www.w3.org/html/)

    CSS (http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/)

    PHP (http://www.techtuts.com/v5.php) or (http://www.php.net/manual/en/)

    MySQL (http://www.mysqltutorial.org/) or (http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/6.0/en/i鈥?/a>

I think you'll have fun with these technologies. As a beginner with no programming experience, how is best to learn to create websites?
Learn HTML if you want to learn how to create websites. If you want to be a skillful Web developer learn to it in note or Notepad ++ which is more useful for programming. If you just want to make a site you can use a editor like Frontpage or Dreamweaver.
you should first learn HTML . it is quite easy to learn . use ';dreamweaver 8'; for code assistance . after learning HTML u should concentrate in ';java script'; . and then ';jsp';,';asp';,';php %26amp; mysql'; and so on . but preliminery knowledge in ';C'; will be better anywhere .

What is a really good board for a beginner like me. I need a cheep brand.?

Get a low end model from a respectable brand (Ride, Gnu, LibTech, Rome, Burton, Forum)

    Don't get a non-respectable brand.

If you get a last year's model on sale from one of the better brands you will be much happier in the long run, as you will be able to grow into it a bit.

Go to the store (a snowboard shop, not Gart's) to figure out which board you want and then go online to buy it (check out www.dogfunk.com) If you do it this way you can get some real good deals. If you are good with ebay you can check that out too. I don't trust ebay, but my friend got some high end bindings that had never been used, only taken out of the box, for dirt cheap.

You will want a flexier, softer board to start with because it will be more forgiving and easier to control.

DON'T go to Garts or GI Joes or Sports Authority or any of those places. If you are just starting out, you are going to want some good advice, and the people at those places generally have no clue what they are talking about. They also stock some complete crap. Go to a real snowboard shop.

Make sure to get good boots too. What is a really good board for a beginner like me. I need a cheep brand.?
check out ebay or boardsforless.com their really cheap and have good boards. What is a really good board for a beginner like me. I need a cheep brand.?
Go to Sports Authority ( used to be GART's ) and check out the BARGAINS ( spelled backwards ).

If you can wait, Denver Metro has lots of places with good used shredder stuff after the season...
    forum or burton
don't get something like a Buirton, or like Forum like the other guy said, save that for when you are better, get something like Lamar, LTD, Avalanche, they are pretty good boards and really cheap.
My first board was a LTD and their very nice boards and you can find some really good cheap deals on them.

Dont buy something expensive like Burton until you know you really like snowboarding and are gonna stick with it. I've been snowboarding for 4 years and just got my first Burton I used an LTD Belle before.
Okay, well if you're a beginner, don't go out and by a brad new Burton Twin or something. Start out slow. I could reccomend a Firefly or Ride. Firefly isn't bad, neither is Ride. And for a beginner, make sure it's flexy.
what kind of riding do you do? are u a girl or guy? i like k2 boards, burton bindings ( with toe strap) and boots

What kind would you recommend for a ';beginner bird';?

I am not exactly a ';beginner'; as I once had a cockatiel, but I will admit I don't really know much about birds, at least not anymore. What would be a bird that would like to be held a lot but would not need hours and hours out of its cage? (As I said I'm no expert but don't some very large parrots need a ton of interaction/stimulation ..?) It might be a tall order but I am just curious;. Thanks a lotWhat kind would you recommend for a ';beginner bird';?
cockatiels are great starter birds since they are not overly needy and if given an adequate sized cage and proper toys are fine being caged longer. Lovebirds can also be a lot of fun but you are best only having one so it bonds to you and not to another bird.

tiels can learn to speak and whistle (males) and their screech is not as high pitched as a lovebirds but lovebirds are clowns and a lot of fun also. What kind would you recommend for a ';beginner bird';?
well i'm not exactly an expert either, but i would recommend a cockatiel, or a budgie.

I have a hand-raised cockatiel and hes the first bird i've ever owned. hes 4 and a half months now and hes just so much fun, he wolf whistles, imitates the phone ringing and we're in the process of teaching him to whistle happy birthday.

If you are able to get a hand-raised bird then a lot of the hard work has been done for you, in terms of being able to bond with it/hold it/pat it. Our tiel is out of his cage for a minimum of 4 hours a day (just cause basically when we get home hes out of the cage straight away) and on our 3 days of weekend hes out of the cage all day. The minimum time they need out of their cage is 30 minutes to an hour but obviously the more time you can spend with it the better especially if you want to maintain a close bond.

    Good luck :-)
Birds are social animals; they need company and interaction

    if you buy one, buy a companion bird to be with it when no one is home;

ihate to see birds as pets because they really belong in their native habitat; if you can't be there for it don't buy a parrot or cockatoo

  • Which camera would you recommend for a beginner photographer?

I'm 15, I love photography but I'm still fairly inexperienced. (I only do digital) I currently have a pretty basic digital camera but it's not really suitable to get good shots.

I'm saving to buy a camera, which one would be best. I like Nikon D40s, would that be a good choice? And if any one could send me links with info. that would be fantastic. Thanks. Which camera would you recommend for a beginner photographer?
D 40s are a good camera..have you looked a the D80's? For a bit more money you will get an excellent beginners camera that can take you right up to expert. It is very easy to use and very versitile. Talk to the people in the camera stores.

www.nikon.ca/en/product.aspx?m=17080Which camera would you recommend for a beginner photographer?
You have made a wise choice. Definitely go with a SLR.

A new Nikon D40x is fairly pricey. You could find a used D200 for almost the same price and have a camera that will last quite a while and has a AF motor.

Be sure to buy a 50mm F/1.8 to start out. Avoid using a zoom until you have become a master at composing with a prime.
A good start would be anything that is an SLR. good luck and dont ever let anyone kill your dream.

Photography Beginner which camera to purchase?

I would like to start doing photography of architecture and then hopefully begin shooting people. I am not sure which camera I should buy. I plan on purchasing a camera and taking courses at a community college, I have a $1000.00 total budget, What do you recommend?Photography Beginner which camera to purchase?
While, typically, architecture photography is done with large format camera systems, something your not budgeted for, you can do them with 35mm.

What are the steps from Beginner to Grand Slam Winner?

Like, obviously you start with lessons, then play minor tournaments, etc. Then what? What are the steps from Beginner to Grand Slam Winner?
Well, if you live in the US, you can join the USTA, and climb in rankings. What happens is once you get into the higher rankings [in the range of 50 and above] you will play more competitive tournaments. When you get a high enough ranking (if I'm not mistaken, the top 5) you will get a chance to play in international tournaments. Someone may notice you, become your sponsor, and you will climb through the world rankings. Then, you can enter different slams, major, minor tournaments around the world, or choose to train or whatever. To make it to a Slam, you need quite a high ATP ranking. Anyways, that's basically it.What are the steps from Beginner to Grand Slam Winner?

Would the Burton Stria be to hard of a board for an beginner/intermediate park rider?

Would this board be too difficult for me, or could I grow into it well?Would the Burton Stria be to hard of a board for an beginner/intermediate park rider?
if you're an intermediate rider who is just starting park, then yes, it may be a good fit. If you are an all around beginner, and not very comfortable on blue runs let alone black diamonds, then I don't think it's the best choice for you at this point. Then I'd recommend an all-mountain board with a medium amount of flex.Would the Burton Stria be to hard of a board for an beginner/intermediate park rider?
no because burton is not cheap you don't know if you will like snowboarding so i would get like an 07 board so maybe something like a lamar or 5150 im going to get a 5150 this year it is a 5150 covert 07 board. but i am still looking also most burton boards will go rather fast so they are not very good for beginners.

Suggestions of color for a beginner's watercolor palette?

Not sure which colours to buy, or the names of paint. Planning to buy tomorrow.

I am looking to buy about 6 watercolors?

I don't have enough budget to go for artists' quality.

    Also,

Have you ever used Winsor and Newton Cotman watercolor and do you recommend them?

ThanksSuggestions of color for a beginner's watercolor palette?
Yes have used them and like them. Are you buying tubes or pans? Hmmmm. you will want the primary colors, plus a couple more. Cadmium red (or hue) Cadmium Yellow (or hue) Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine or Cobalt blue, Lemon Yellow, yellow ochre, burnt umber and burnt sienna, possibly a black, but I stay away from black. Instead of using white, use more water tomake the color lighter. Use the white of the paper for true whites. You can save the white of the paper by using a masking fluid (frisket). Red and yellow make orange, yellow and blue make green and red and blue make violet. You might want to invest in a nice bright violet, however, as it is difficult to make a beautiful purple with the colors listed above. Depending upon what kind of red, yellow or blue you get, the colors will be different. Use complementary colors to mix browns and neutral colors. (they sit across the color wheel from each other). The siennas and ochres will give yo beatiful browns. Use the burnt umber plus a blue in place of black...it is richerSuggestions of color for a beginner's watercolor palette?
Go for the Winsor and Newton. Good brand, real vibrant colors and true pigments that do not fade.

If I had to pick just 6 colors I'd go for any color I like but I would include:

    Paynes grey (must have)

    Allizarin Crimson

    Cobalt blue

any bright yellow you like Lemon or Cadmium

Some earth tone like Burnt umber or Sienna

NOT black. You should not use black unless you really reall REALLY are sure you need it.

But just get the Cotman starter set It is balanced and you can 'treat' yourself to a new tube once in a while and get a nice collection over time. Most tubes will last you over a year depending on how productive you will be. (some I have are over 5 years old even though I use them regularly)...

Microsoft digital editing came out in 2006 and i love it. There are a lot of tricks you can do with it. It takes some time to learn how to use,but well worth the time. Im also ready to retire and my wife got me a lap top 3 years ago for writing and working with photos. When I got my new lap top it came with a photo editing program {Windows Photo Editing} and it wasn't as good. So i put Microsoft on and its been great. If I knew how to send a picture of things Ive done I would. Try Microsoft and I am sur you will love it.
no no no... all you need is: digital camera, some nice books about photography... nothing fancy and expensive... read, learn, and watch as many pictures you can... don't spend money for those weird courses, they will not going to learn you anything good... you can lear all this stuff by yourself without spending a money.... than you can start thinking about photoshop and some books of Scott Kelby... I wish you luck !!
The best? PhotoShop CS4. Nothing pushes pixels around like it does. But I question whether you really need a $600 program? I own it. I love it. I use it daily. But a beginner will likely only need something like Elements for quite a while. It costs less than $100.
