Photography Beginner which camera to purchase?

I would like to start doing photography of architecture and then hopefully begin shooting people. I am not sure which camera I should buy. I plan on purchasing a camera and taking courses at a community college, I have a $1000.00 total budget, What do you recommend?Photography Beginner which camera to purchase?
While, typically, architecture photography is done with large format camera systems, something your not budgeted for, you can do them with 35mm.
