What is a good brand of running shoes for beginner track? ?

I am starting track in spring, i haven't done track before but friends have told me i am fast when they try to catch me. (some of those friends play soccer and do track) I am a freshman in high school and i have no clue what kind of shoes would be good. I would also like them to be used for climbing (buildings) and just going on runs in the neighborhood. What is a good brand of running shoes for beginner track? ?
Go to a running specialty store (*not* Sports Authority, Dicks, or Foot Locker), and get fitted. There are different types of running styles (pronator, underpronator, neutral, overpronator) so you need the right shoe for you. If they are doing it right, the salesperson will have you run around the store or on a treadmill to see how you run.

To answer your next question, yes, it will be more expensive than going to Dicks or Footlocker. On the other hand, needing physical therapy because you jacked up your shins or knees with the wrong shoes is going to be VERY expensive. What is a good brand of running shoes for beginner track? ?
Go to a ';running'; shop and get fitted for a pair. People's preferences are all different and the shoes sometimes fit perfectly on one person and absolutely horrible on someone else. I went to a shop and I actually came out with the Saucony Triumph. Pretty light and comfy for me but it might not be for you. Good luck.
You probably need to spend at least 80 to get a good pair of shoes. Adidas, Saucony, Asics, New Balance, Nike, and Brooks all make good shoes. Go to a nice store and get fit tested on a treadmill.
The ';Asic Gel'; range is awsome to run in. They are both light and comfortable. I have a pair at the moment and they are great!
