Drug Tests for beginner pilots?

I want to be a pilot, I have been saving money to start lessons this summer. I know that big airline companies give staff regular drug tests, but I want to know if students are tested, like maybe it is part of the test to get your license or something. Or if you are just flying a small plane, not a commercial one, can you get drug tested?Drug Tests for beginner pilots?
You'll have to pass a medical exam to obtain your student pilot license. I can assure you your AME will perform a drug test. Contrary to popular belief, at the AME's discretion (Aviation Medical Examiner), a drug test can be performed during any medical exam as recommended by the FAA. However, many examiners omit to do it during recurrent medical visits, if you've been taking drugs, wait at least 6 months, I'd recommend you wait more than 6 months before visiting an AME. Also a side advice, please do not get involved in aviation if you're planning on using drugs!!!Drug Tests for beginner pilots?
No, the FAA medical exam does not test for drugs.

Nor are there any other drug tests throughout training.

However, the FAA Medical application does ask about previous drug abuse and/or criminal convictions.

Also, even as a student, if you are involved in an aircraft accident, you will most likely be tested for drugs/alcohol.

EDIT: Here's a site that lists the actual language of the question regarding drug abuse:

http://www.leftseat.com/faaforms.htm

';A diagnosis or medical history of substance dependence is disqualifying unless there is established clinical evidence, satisfactory to the Federal Air Surgeon, of recovery, including sustained total abstinence from the substance(s) for not less than the preceding 2 years. A history of substance abuse within the preceding 2 years is disqualifying. Substance includes alcohol and other drugs (i.e., PCP, sedatives and hynoptics, anxiolytics, marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, hallucinogens, and other psychoactive drugs or chemicals).';

Good Luck with your training.
You are not tested for drugs, but you must disclose your drug use to obtain the medical; failing to do so can cause you to lose that certification.

Unless you never intend to take drugs again, becoming a pilot is probably not a good idea (and it's a much worse idea than becoming a car driver, which is already unwise if you take drugs).
Yes and if you`re found to have traces of drugs in your system from within a year from the test date you will be prosecuted and have your license revoked. If you are thinking of flying aircraft while high with passengers, it should be considered attempted murder.
We have enough of a problem with American Airlines pilots blowing positive alcohol tests.
Drug tests are required for student pilots to get their license.
There is no drug test involved in the FAA physical.
PLEASE DO NOT FLY WHILE INTOXICATED
If you have to ask, then you shouldn't be a pilot.
