What is a good beginner manual transmission car?

I need help in finding an easy manual car. I have read what not to get for a beginner which is mostly all the turbo cars. So please tell me what a nice beginning car is. I prefer it to be old so I don't screw anything up while I start fresh. Also it would help if you gave me a list a nice beginner cars. What is a good beginner manual transmission car?
anything cheap.

I had a 89 ford escort that was tons of fun to drive and a 93 mazda protege that was also fun, and then my other car was a 99 eclipse(non turbo) which was the best manual i drove until my current car by leaps an bounds... Now i drive a Dodge srt4 but that is NOT for any Beginner.

good luck

well one thing that you might look for is a Hydraulic Clutch instead of a mechanical mechanism the reason is simple the hydraulic is a lot easier to operate and the clutch is a lot smoother Lots of luck !!!!!!!!!!
You can get a 1999 to a 2001 Saturn SL Sedan or Ford Escort with a manual transmission for around $2000-$2500. Their late model enough where you don't have to worry about them breaking down on you. You can get later model domestic cars cheap, as opposed to foreign.

Not a car but a 70's ford truck is very easy!
I would suggest looking into your local news papers and trolling the lots that allow people to park cars they are selling. I think a Nissan Sentra, Chevrolet Cavalier, or a Honda of almost any kind. Mid 90's. those cars are darn near indestructible and are very low maintenance. My first car was a Sentra and I drove that think for 5 years and never had much trouble out of it. My sister drove it for 3 years before me. It was a tank. It had been in two small wrecks and it was fine.
