What would u recommend for a beginner for bass guitars?

im getting the money to buy a bass guitar but i dont really know too much about them...i dont have much to start out with anyway. what would you recommened i start out with? What would u recommend for a beginner for bass guitars?
If you're looking for a good starter instrument that'll give you good quality and a fairly low price, try one of these:

Squier Affinity P Bass

Squier Affinity J Bass

Squier Vintage Modified Precision/Jazz Bass

Peavey Millenium

Peavey Milestone 5

Yamaha RBX170

Ibanez GAXB

Ibanez GSR200

Warwick Rockbass Streamer Standard

OLP MM2

Washburn XB100

All of these should cost you less than $300 (Less than $200 in some cases). Like the other guy said, Fender is a very reliable company (just stay away from their 5 strings). Ibanez also makes very nice mid-ranged instruments.

The most important thing though is to play the basses yourself; everyone's taste in this area is different, so you should go to a music store with a few instruments in mind, try and play as many as you can, and see which one sounds the best, feels the best, suits your needs the best - then you should be set =)

Cheers! What would u recommend for a beginner for bass guitars?
Squier. Definitely. Or if you have a little more money get a Fender Precision Bass or Jazz Bass. But definitely a Fender/Squier bass. 9 out of 10 bass players play Fender. (Squier is a Fender brand.)
Search local pawn shops and locally owned guitar stores (not guitar center). They usually have the best deals. Be sure to try out a bass before you buy it, you may find a liking towards a cheaper model rather than a brand name one.
this is the ONLY beginners Bass that pro's purchase too
